65 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.  Established in 1873, it has a population of over 823,000 people and covers 1,845 square miles.

Beginning Monday, January 4, 2021 - Hall of Justice, 800 Victoria Ave., Ventura, CA:

BEGINNING MONDAY, JANUARY 4, 2021, appointment check-in will move to the Hall of Justice Cafeteria for the following clerk’s offices: Civil, Family, Small Claims, Appeals & Mental Health, Records & Exhibits; Civil & Family Self-help Centers and Collections. The cafeteria entrance is located on the South side of the Hall of Justice, off the Plaza between the Hall of Justice & Hall of Administration Buildings. Please use parking lots E, F or G. Entrances to the parking lots are from Hill Road and Telephone Road.

Outside check-in for Family Law Mediation, District Attorney's Office, or the District Attorney's Small Claims Advisor, will remain on the North entrance of the Hall of Justice, (Ventura Courthouse, entrance next to the 126 freeway). Please use parking lots A, B, C or D. Entrances to the parking lots are from Victoria Ave., and or Webster St. All private attorneys with a case on calendar must also check-in at the North entrance of the Hall of Justice, (Ventura Courthouse, entrance next to the 126 freeway) and obtain a slip to enter the building. Civil matters will continue to be heard via CourtCall only, unless otherwise ordered by the assigned judge.

Criminal/Traffic Filings/Payments and Collections Payments will also remain on the Northside of the Hall of Justice at the outside walk-up windows, (Ventura courthouse, entrance next to the 126 freeway.)

Masks Required to Enter the Courthouse If you have a hearing on calendar for a MISDEMEANOR OR FELONY, and are unable to hire your own attorney---you should check in at the Public Defender Desk in the Plaza between the Hall of Justice & Hall of Administration, (Ventura Courthouse south entrance). Please use parking lots E, F or G. Entrances to the parking lots are from Hill Road and Telephone Road.

If you are currently represented by the Public Defender - contact your assigned attorney BEFORE coming to court for instructions. If you do not know the name of your assigned Public Defender check in at the Public Defender Desk in the Plaza between the Hall of Justice & Hall of Administration, (Ventura Courthouse south entrance). Please use parking lots E, F or G. Entrances to the parking lots are from Hill Road and Telephone Road.

Beginning Monday, June 15, 2020 - East County Courthouse 3855-F Alamo Street, Simi Valley, CA:

The East County Courthouse lobby remains closed to the public. Criminal, Traffic and Collections payments can be handled at the exterior walk up window. All Small Claims documents must be filed in Ventura.
Zoom Appearances for Request for Order Hearings in Family Law Cases
If you have a hearing or trial on calendar, you must check in at the East County Courthouse walk up window no more than 30 minutes before your scheduled hearing time.

Please review Administrative Order 20.20 - Restricted Public Access; and Livestream Broadcasting for more information on access to the courthouses.


Beginning Monday, June 15, 2020 – Juvenile and Probate Courthouse, 4353 E. Vineyard Avenue, Oxnard, CA:

If you have a hearing or trial on calendar, please check in at the entrance to the courthouse to receive instructions before entering for your court case. In most instances, you will be required to wait outside.

Appointments are required for filing documents at the Juvenile and Probate clerk’s office and Family Resource Center. Making your appointment in advance is highly recommended.

If you have an appointment at the clerk’s office or Family Resource Center, you must check in at the table outside the building to receive a pass for entry into the building.
