Weddings by a Judge

There is a judge at the Ventura County Government Center, Hall of Administration, every Saturday morning at 9 a.m. to perform wedding ceremonies. You should plan to arrive at 8:30 a.m. No appointment is needed. There is a sign-up sheet at the Information Desk to sign upon your arrival. Weddings are performed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The judge's fee is $65 in cash. You will need to bring with you your marriage license, which you should have already obtained, and at least one witness of reasonable age.

No wedding ceremonies are performed by Superior Court judges during the week. However, wedding ceremonies without a judge are performed weekdays from 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. in the Clerk and Recorder's office in the Hall of Administration.

For private wedding ceremonies, other than the government center, special arrangements can be made by calling the judges' secretary at (805) 654-2673, to schedule an appointment. The secretary will need to know the date and time of the wedding ceremony, bride's name, groom's name, phone numbers to contact and the location of the wedding. Scheduling is done 4 - 6 weeks before the wedding date.

Our judges do not do rehearsals.
