TELEPHONIC APPEARANCES
RULE 7.00 TELEPHONE APPEARANCE
Counsel shall have the option of appearing by telephone in any conference or nonevidentiary law and motion or probate hearing subject to the provisions of Rule 3.670 of the California Rules of Court and the following provisions with respect to private vendor teleconference services. RULE 7.01 PRIVATE VENDOR
A. As permitted by Rule 3.670(f) of the California Rules of Court, teleconferencing for court appearances is provided by a private vendor who may charge counsel appearing by telephone a reasonable fee.
B. SCHEDULED AVAILABILITY. The court, through the provider of a teleconferencing service, will contact all counsel and schedule a specific estimated time for each hearing at which counsel will be appearing by telephone. Notwithstanding the specific estimated time established by the provider, counsel wishing to appear by telephone shall be available at the telephone number listed by that individual in the title page of the moving or opposing papers or the Notice to Appear by Telephone from the commencement of the appropriate calendar, until the completion of the hearing. Failure to remain available as required by this paragraph shall be deemed a non-appearance at the hearing and shall be subject to sanctions.
C. If counsel subsequently chooses to appear in person, in addition to notice as provided in CRC 3.670(d)(2), counsel shall, at least two (2) court days before the hearing, notify the teleconference provider by telephone.
D. If the court requires the personal appearance of counsel, in addition to notice as provided in CRC 3.670(e), the court shall, at least one (1) court day before the hearing, notify the teleconference provider by telephone. (Revised effective 1/1/07)
